Logical, but it's all about money

I drove to the airport yesterday hoping to be able to change my ticket at the America West counter so that I can check in at Phoenix instead.

My ticket is for Tucson-Phoenix-Edm. And all I wanted was to give up my Tuc-Phx leg but no, they want to charge me a $100 cancellation fee and for me to buy a new fare from Phx-Edm as it would constitute a new ticket.

They say that I am changing my original contract, essentially cancelling it, when I don't check in at Tucson. And then if I were to check-in at Phoenix, then I would have to buy a new ticket because my other one would be cancelled when I didn't check in.

Ok, it sounds logical but still, it's basically tapping a few keys on the computer and everything would be changed and done in less than a few minutes of their time.

Stoopid. Speaking of money, this afternoon, I sit down with the 2 dept. heads to discuss details of their offer of employment. I guess it all boils down to this now....economics.

Grace to you, Vien
