House ill

Hola,

Haven't heard much from anyone up there in a while...are you guys frozen to death or sumthin'? :)

Sorry, just had to comment again on how I'm enjoying the fine weather down here. But *gasp*, I've had to start wearing a sweater at night now. It's chil-ly!

I'm blogging from work while you lucky bums are probably enjoying a scumptious turkey dinner and stuffing. Hence, my blog title...I have been feeling dearthly homesick. Some days, the lonesomeness is magnified.

It's been pretty good hanging out with the church folks down here, but the only sad problem is that I'm much older than them. Most are 24, 25 or 26. I'm thankful that I don't look my age, but hearing them talk makes me wistful for a closer peer group. You know they think 30 is old, old, old.

I've told just a few of my female friends how old I am, and have been met with much shock. But now I'm feeling extra self-conscious about my age, especially since i'm suspecting the guys think i'm around their age. It's just embarrassing all around, I feel anyway.

I was pretty surprised when one girl (who is married, has a kid and 27) decided to volunteer my age for me. So now a few more people know my age. *sigh* We all get old right, down with ageism.

Well, Happy Thanksgiving again my Canadian friends.

Grace to you, Vien

Hey Vieners!

Happy Thanksgiving. If you like, we can save some turkey for you... only thing is that it'll start to smell bad pretty fast! LOL
We miss you lots here too. Only a few more months.
P.S. I don't really think 30 is old. I just like to tease all you "Old" people.

3-0 is NOT old, Vien! When I tell ppl my age and they react with shock, I consider it a compliment because that means that they think I look younger than my 3 decades. Quite frankly, they will probably soon forget your age anyway, because it's the *person* not the number that counts!

And yeah, we miss you too! Christmas isn't far away though; just keep posting and emailing and you won't notice the time tick by!

Hey Vien,
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving! I'm sure next month's celebration will be huge and happy! Holidays always seem to be when we miss our loved ones the most - at least absence makes the heart grow fonder :) We miss you up here too! You know, 3-6 years age difference is not very much at all. Certainly it is if you're 18 and your "friend" is 12 :), but not so much at our age anymore. Anyways, you're young at heart and I hope your friends will see beyond your age.
Take care, J & J

Who thinks 30 is old?? I've actually never found anyone (aside from *some* 18 year olds, and even that's not too many) who thought 30 was ancient by any stretch. If anything, 30 is pretty much
PRIME
TIME

as far as I am concerned!!! Enjoy it!!

Besides, 30 is most definitely *not* old compared with 26!! That's only 4 years difference! If anything, the reaction of shock you are getting is a massive compliment - it means you look much younger than you are anyway, which will likely help out when you hit 40 or 50 but look like you're 30. =)

Happy (belated) Thanksgiving and you are in our prayers as always!
