I have started anew, thanks to Mrs. L who gave me an orientation about Blogger and linking.
There is some motivation to blog regularly now. It will be a useful way to update and communicate if i ever move away from Edmonton, or even if i stay.
Utmost, I hope that I can share in a way that reflects Christ, His redeeming grace and my life as His work in progress. :)
My longtime friends would know that I have been hankering to move away from this affectionately named city that we call Deadmonton. And while I am deeply loyal to Edmonton (say never to Cowtown) for some reason, I have always loved San Francisco and the Bay area.
Maybe because our early far flung vacations was only to SF to visit relatives so it made an impression on me as a kid. The Golden Gate Bridge, nights of thick fog, the steeply inclined streets, Fisherman's Wharf, I think SF is unique from the rest of N. America. And it's not too cold or too hot.
So my initiation post is my tribute to Edmonton, formerly city of Champions... in the 80s!
Top 10 Reasons I love Edmonton (um, fashioned in a semi-order)
10) Pretty good festivals in the summer, though they are predictable and the same
9) When it is not snot-freezing, ear-numbing almost uninhabitable cold, the snow is so pretty. Absolutely breath-taking and photo-inspiring.
8) World's Biggest Mall, nuff said, and we know every store and nook like the back of our hand
7) N. America's longest river valley system. So many summers of endless rollerblading and biking
6) Man, Edmontonians are the best volunteers. We show up and support every event, I bet even if it's the Woman's High Heel sprint event like they are having somewhere in Europe
6) If I were to move away, my mom's homecooking! Yummy vietnamese food and soups.
5) Friends, old and new
4) E3C
3) relatives
2) my sisters
1) I grew up in Edmonton, so tons and tons of memories
I moved away from Edmonton for 1.5years but God brought me back. I want to move away and am praying about it, but I have to want what God wants for me. So wherever I go or if I stay, may God go ahead of me and with me. :)
Share some of the reasons why you love Edmonton.
Grace to you, Vien

Wow, Viener, this is going to be a stretch, since you *know* I love Vancouver more than anything! ;)
(BTW - I'm so glad to see that you're blogging now and have it figured out!)
Some reasons I like Edmonton: -Kingsway Garden Mall. Not too big, not too small, but has all the important stores in it.
-The Legislature. J & I have great walks & talks when we go there, and it looks great at Christmastime.
-Ellerslie Road Baptist Church. We're afraid we won't find another equally Godly, equally friendly and equally expository church when we get to Van. Plus we have made good friends in our fellowship there, and would like to take them all with us!
So glad to see you blogging Viener! If I ever figure out how to link blogs, I will add you on (my existing links were courtesy a-la Rich)!
That's so funny you're looking to move away from the City of Champs whereas I had to work so hard to get back!
Things I like about Edmonton (not in any specific order of course);
1. Festivals
2. The people (friends and family of course)
3. The size...not too big yet not hick townish like where I'm from
4. Our church
5. Location (close to the mountains and close to my parents...kinda a mid meeting point)
Trust in the Lord and he will answer all prayers!
It's too bad that you don't love Cowtown Vien. SF is nice to visit, but I rather live in Calgary for the following reasons: it's only about an hour from the great Rockies; it has a cleaner river; and you can drive fast on the freeways (I guess you can do that in SF as well). Ah, I have certainly grown to love this city of almost 1 million people except I still cheer for the Oilers and the Eskimos.
What I miss most about Edmonton has already been said: immediate and extended family, friends (or lack thereof as Jane will tell you) and memories.
Favorite cousin in Calgary
Never say never to cowtown! I agree with Favorite coz in calgary - its a city with lots to offer. One thing that is close to my heart or more accurately, stomach, is the great eats here. There's at least 10 amazing restaurants within a 2 block radius in the downtown core alone. Wonderful desserts - not so good for the waistline, though.
Come visit and we'll go out for a night on the town :)
God Bless and love reading your blog!
From Fav. friend in Calg.
Hi Favorite cousin and friend in Cowtown,
I can concede to those points, but Edmonton still rocks the province. :)
