Short, & not-really musing musings :)

hello,

summer is here! Especially with the heat-island effect, Tucson will rarely have a day under 100 degrees from here on out til mmm.. monsoon season. Which is a lovely season because the thunder and lightning shows are spectacular.

The owner of the house from which i am renting a bedroom has moved back to Texas as she is engaged now and that is where her family and fiance are. My other roommate, after being in Tucson for 8 years, finally took action to move back to San Diego by quitting her job. Guess it required the impetus of her "best friend" (the 1st roommate) moving away for her to finally do what she has been saying she wants to do.

Those 2 interesting developments has meant that I basically get a whole house (all 1200+ sq ft) to live in but with virtually no furniture as I am a nomad and minimalist by nature.

All I have to my name is a full sized bed, a lamp, a nice Italian frying pan, a soup pot and a few utensils, for real!

It makes for a big empty living and I'm also a scaredy cat by nature, even as a kid, so it has meant some adjustment for me. Each night is a psychological preparation that the Boogie Man will not come get me in the dark, this irrational fear is as real as whatever Satan and my mind wants to throw at me on some nights.

I even looked into the idea of getting a dog for some companionship but my sister thinks it will be cruel as I do eventually plan on moving and it may not be suitable for a dog.

Well, thankfully, there is an optometrist graduate who will be moving into the Master bedroom in July as she will be doing a 1yr residency in Tucson. So until then, it is 6 weeks of hoping for the best.

In other news, I will be coming up to Edmonton a few times this year. This Memorial long weekend for one will be a nice short jaunt. I can't wait to meet my nephew again as his personality has developed more now. And then in September I will come back again to meet my future niece or nephew at the 1 month banquet. And then it looks like there will also be a tentative visit for a possible wedding in October.

Wow, with these increase in fuel costs it has meant the price of travelling to Canada is like flying overseas. Easily $600 or more.

Luckily, while I live in a house and watch over it like an owner, I don't have the expenses that comes with being an owner. Or else i would be one of the many statistics in America citing huge insurmountable debt.

On that note, i should get back to work and making a living.

Grace to you, Vien :D

I was beginning to wonder whether you had fallen off the face of the earth! :)

I think living alone is awesome! :) I mean, the only thing better is having a hubby to live with, but otherwise I prefer going solo to having roomies. There is something to be said for private time after a full day of being around people. LOL...maybe I'm getting antisocial in my old age, but I don't like the idea of having to share a kitchen, or bathroom, or laundry facilities. I don't enjoy having to "be nice" when I'd rather be my grumpy ol' self at the end of a long day.

Enjoy your 6 weeks! :) If you're scared, play some good worship music to lull you to sleep. That's a good way to stay distracted!

haha, I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, though Tucson is pretty close...I kid, I kid. The people here are wondeful.

Yeah, Mrs L, what I enjoy the most about my bathroom now is a hair-free floor and no clutter. The kitchen doesn't have food crumbs nor are there dishes in there that is days old.

The list is endless. I don't get grumpy with roommates at all, funny, it was easy to though with family. :)

so far, i've been making do with an eye mask on to sleep at night. Worship music is good too, but it's only played off my Itunes and then stays on all night in which case it lulls me to sleep, but wakens me up again as well. Can't win, haha.
