That's how it works when it's the eve of what I believe is the biggest holiday weekend in the US. I heard a good theory once...it's a holiday where you can spend time with the family without having to bring gifts. Pure family time with lots of good food and their version of Boxing Day sale the day after.
I get a 4 days holiday that weekend too, so I will head off to the land of plastic, materialism and many shattered dreams.... Los Angeles, CA. I'm going to go with the TCBC sister I mentioned in a previous blog and stay with her and her family. There will be a few others in the car pool who are from there too, so it should be fun. My friend absolutely loves LA and her enthusiasm has warmed me up to what is the appeal of LA. I'm still partial to the Bay area. :)
Alls I know is, I'm looking forward to some good chinese and viet food. Mmm. And probably visit Grace Community Church with Albert Lin, get to hear John McArthur in person.
So this is our Halloween costume, I was able to easily persuade a few co-harts to round out the set. For those who don't know this chinese game, we're supposed to look something like this: Mahjong, that way you can see how "cool" our costumes are, yep that's right, cool. haha. Grace to you, vien

Innovative costumes, to be sure! =D I don't know if anyone *non-Asian* would get the reference, though. And I'd probably go as a different tile (the bird, maybe?) ;)
I think US Thanksgiving sounds like a really cool holiday, and I've heard it is also the kick-off to Christmas. Either way, I like how they do it with a 4-day weekend and major displays all over the stores; our Thanksgivings pale by comparison.
Glad to hear that your folks are visiting, and that you're heading to LA. If you see any stars, will you snap a photo for me on your cameraphone? ;) LA sounds so glam, even though I know it probably isn't for the everyday person. *sigh*
I'm off to Van in a couple of days so yay for me too! Nothing like a good November getaway ;)
The bird would be a good one to go solo as, but heck, I can't draw that. And thankfully, it's a chinese church, so lots of people thought the idea was gold....considering it also only cost <$3 each too. :)
Sure thing, you can bet I'd be all over that if I spot a celebrity. Have a good time in your dream city Mrs. L.
