This parcel of groomed rock may seem innocous looking, but a few weekends ago, it took Grace and me over 2.5hrs to pull out as much weeds as we could. After the initial spring clean-up, this area became over run with weeds. It almost became trailer park-looking. The problem is that it is a difficult area to keep weed-free as some of
the weeds go way down into the hardened dirt and I can't exactly clear off all the rocks to dig it up. Trust me, I tried. There was too much gouging involved. But weeds show up so easily next to washed gravel and rocks, as you can see in the pictures.
So I present to you, my summer distraction: the mission of trying to pull out weeds as they appear.
It's a tough job, but "someone" has to do it.

If it's more than a few weeds, I say spray weed killer and be done with it. Yeah, it's not environmental, but your back will thank you. Trust me, I know!!
You're right, de-weeding is a back breaking endeavor.
But I'm not worried about the environment as much as I am about getting cancer (?)
You're probably more likely to get cancer spending two and a half hours out in the sun...... :)
woo, true.
Doh. How about if I wear long sleeves, a hat and sunblock?
Then that would be better, but then you'd sweat like a pig......
