That was the subject heading of the final email sent by a co-worker in this office.
He is in the reserves, he is in his 50s, and next month he is departing for Kuwait on active duty for a year. At this time, he does not know exactly what his duty is, but it was an emotional good bye luncheon we had for him.
Some women were crying, some men were holding back their tears including Clif himself because the reality is that there is a possibility he will die over there defending who knows what at this point. It is one of America's biggest election issues.
I have another friend from church who volunteered to go over to Iraq, he is 24 years old and an air traffic controller. He was born with a natural hero syndrome in addition to being someone who swells with patriotic military pride.
The co-worker of my co-worker's wife was sent on active duty recently. He was the HR manager of his company.
I think some people are emotional because in this modern time, it is hard to process that people still go out there and fight for the greater good. In return for that, they may lose their lives.
Some go willingly and with panache, some go because it is their duty. No matter which side of this issue you are on, we wish these troops Godspeed and see you again.

I hate war. I especially hate wars that are pointless. If I was an American, I'd be a Democrat. God will judge George W. Bush for being the very foolish steward of that which he was entrusted with.
If the U.S. end up invading Iran, I think you need to move home!
I don't know Mrs L, i hear some solid reasons why (i won't go into that here) the US should be in Iraq, etc.
There was war in the bible, it's horrible and hateful, but sometimes necessary.
Again, without really fully sharing my personal opinion on this even tho it's my blog, hehe, just cuz it's THAT emotionally controversial.
but yeah, if the US invades Iraq, i should give heavy consideration to moving back! :)
