Couple of updates

Hello,

I haven't had regular internet access again. Only at work and my new roommate has Chinese characters all over her PC so I noticed it screws up even email writing.

I'm planning on getting a laptop soon, but I have to wait til I get an Amer. Visa card or my relocation allowance. I actually want to get a MAC, but it might be out of my price budget as a little Dell one will serve my purposes just as good and for less.

I got my Social Security number! It is a miracle as it actually only took 1 week since from the time I went down there to get the number first. Thank goodness that guy was nice enough to give it to me in person once it hit the Immigration system & to check for me too.

However, since this is the middle of a pay period, I have to finish this week on the Cdn. payroll which means I actually won't be seeing any US$ until the end of the month which will be the payday of the next pay period. Bummer. I've been using my credit cards lots lately since I will have money in my Cdn. account to pay for it, I'll lose on the exchange rate of course. But am running low on Amer. cash. and need it for rent, etc. just in case.

My horrible initial week of settling in reached a pinnacle with what I can only describe as a psycho ex-roommate. And I didn't even live with her (maybe thank goodness as I got a creepy vibe from her & her place once i met her), I had found her before I arrived, and she sounded nice on the phone & like we would get along (I know, stupid of me). But long story short, she kept moving the move-in day back b/c her ill mom had to stay with her, so it never panned out....that's how she became psycho, when I suggested that I should look for another place.

I don't even want to think about it anymore, it sure doesn't pay to be nice and I keep finding out the hard way with poor decision making.

Looks like I might have to swallow a loss of $400US already. And also alot of pride as she will have the last laugh. Truly, this is the first time I am experiencing the conscious choice to try to love thy enemies. You guys think I'm exaggerating at her psycho-ness, she twisted some words of my friend as he tried to help me get my deposit back. She basically said that he "threatened" her and cursed me as she said I made a grave mistake by involving him.

Showing her true psycho self, she went and lodged a police complaint against him and named me in it too since she didn't know his last name. How crazy is that?? And she says that she wants to get a restraining order or serve me at work or something....dictating that we don't go near her house.

Puh-leeze. That's what i should have said to her. Don't flatter yourself that we care enough to even want anything to do with you. You should read her immature emails. Sorry, I'm getting worked up thinking about it again, just so horrible. I tried my best to accomodate her and treated her with courtesy and cordiality. Look at what i get in return.

But whoever holds the money gets the last laugh, and she holds my hard earned cash.

Lest you think it's been all negative, there have been some positives and that is Tucson Chinese Baptist Church and some of the people there. I'll blog about it next time.

Grace to you, Vien

Well, praise God for 2 items: your SIN and that you never had to stay in the same roof as the Psycho Lady. Who knows, you could of ended up sleeping with 1 eye open.

Vien, still praying for you.

Glad you're settled in now, and that your SIN is in so quickly!

Do you have receipts from the psycho lady re:your deposit? One of my biggest things is to ask for *everything* in writing, esp. when I have to pay money up front.

Anyway, if you *really* wanted to make her life miserable you could always counter-file a report that she threatened you, and defrauded you out of your money without rendering any services. Of course, a verbal-contract amounts little more to a she-said-she-said, so in the end it's nice to have a paper trail....

Sorry, rambling. Hope this next week and a half is better for you!!!
