As I tap away at this keyboard, I sit here with a medium degree of pain to ask you this:
Have you ever gotten a sunburn from your massage therapist? Have you ever heard of anyone who has? Well, let me tell you one then....
I booked a 4:30pm appointment with the same massage therapist this past Monday. I did not leave there til 7:30pm. Remember this as you read on, that's 3hrs of unobstructed exposure...
When I arrived, Eva exclaimed that her red heat lamp bulb just burnt & she did not have a spare. She uses this so that her clients don't get cold during the massage. As she works out of her basement, she didn't want me to get cold so she had the brilliant idea of using her UV plant light. I wonder why I heard the word, UV, but it did not dawn on me nor her....
Later on that night, as I do my usual spa-like preparations for bedtime, I feel that the skin of my back feels kinda in pain, almost sore....
I look in the mirror and it looks quite red, man, did Eva rub me raw or what. I'm thinking, it must be that aromatic oil she used on me....
The next morning, I tell my friend at work about my 3hr session with the massage therapist. I tell her that my back feels so raw, that it feels almost like a.... sunburn....
All the pieces finally fell together, DUH!
I immediately call Eva so that she will run out and buy a lightbulb, to spare someone else the pain....
"hello?"
"hi Eva, this is Vien, i came to see you for a massage yesterday..."
"yes...."
"Eva, you should go get a lightbulb, I got a sunburn from the plant light."
"yes, I know, my whole arm is sunburnt. I was working under it for over 3hrs"
"oh, ok, just wanted to let you know so that it won't happen to someone else"
"I'm sorry, thank you."
You know what's sorry, my very red and sorry-looking back. It has never seen the light of day before this. *sigh* And I've run out of aloe vera plant too. *sigh*
Grace to you, Vien

Wow...sorry to hear about the burn. That sucks!
A good rule of thumb to consider is that a good massage therapist will NEVER use a lamp to keep you warm; she'll use a heated mattress pad underneath the sheets of the massage table.
If you're looking for a good massage therapist, I can recommend one who charges standard rates.
